Jazz Anchor Quartet
is a quartet that started with trombonist Manten Van Gils and guitarist Peter Verbraken. Both Peter and Manten have composed music that fits into this unusual but very tasteful combination of instruments.
The style has strong influences of Philip Catherine, Chet Baker and thus finds its way into the softer, more sophisticated parts of jazz. The name Jazz Anchor is linked to the city of Mechelen and its brewery, Het Anker, but also to the possible collaboration with additional musicians, or the locations where we drop anchor. On bass we find Otto Kint, on drums Lieven Venken and they have frequent collaborations with for example Phil Abraham. They recently released a new album, To Be.
